About Lorraine Cathro
Biographical Information:
I have been writing for as long as I can remember. In my baby book, my mother wrote that as soon as I was able to hold a crayon or pencil, I would sit at the kitchen table and write: in her words, "scratch, scratch." When my parents bought and mounted a small blackboard, I wrote on it with my cherished pieces of chalk. Throughout my school years, I wrote stories, poems, essays, and speeches.
My years studying and, later, teaching at the university level honed my academic writing, but there was always the storytelling that I grew up with seeking expression. As career and family demands increased, writing was done only for functional purposes. When I retired, I had time to take more writing classes and time to write. My books evolved from that writing.
