The Sowers of Jireh: Sewing, Quilting, and Silk Screening is located in San Vicente, El Salvador. In 2011, a small group of people--originally from Calgary--had a dream: to start a sewing center which would create local employment in El Salvador. They started with one sewing machine and a pile of used jeans. Since then the business has grown and expanded to include t-shirts, baskets, placemats, coasters, jewellery, wallets and purses, as well as their beautiful quilts in various sizes. You can design your own quilt if you wish.
Not only will I have a lovely quilt for our bed, but it makes me feel good that I am helping to create employment. I found the stories of the people who work at the center inspiring. Check out those stories and the lovely products being produced: http://www.sowersofjireh.com
Donations are also accepted.
I will post a photo of my quilt within the next couple weeks.
